Optima has completed works for AECOM, installing glass partitions in Brisbane. Since its inception in 1990 AECOM has been successfully offering fully integrated professional and technical services positioned to design, build, finance and operate infrastructure assets around the world for public- and private-sector clients. The AECOM Brisbane workplace brings together nine separately located business units into one office. It accommodates 850 staff across five floors and is designed to physically and culturally unify the business.
In collaboration with BVN Architecture, Optima’s slimline single glazed partitions were incorporated to create acoustic meeting spaces that offered maximum privacy and premium aesthetics. With key objectives surrounding minimalistic aesthetics and maximum acoustics in a single glazed environment, fixed glazing accompanied acoustic frameless doors to create a workspace that was inviting yet practical to suit the overall functionality as per AECOM’s overall design intent.
The new workplace design creates large voids through the existing floorplates and an interconnecting stair links all levels through these voids to create a dynamic common space and provide a sense of connectivity and transparency. A variety of formal and informal work spaces provides a flexible, collaborative working environment. Demonstrating AECOM’s commitment to sustainability, the design supports the initiatives of the client’s green office policy and uses sustainable building methods and materials. Working in partnership with the client, with maximum stakeholder consultation, the project appropriately reflects the organisation’s aspirations, creating a unique place proudly owned by the people of AECOM.
